In many towns there are ordinances and increased visibility of bike lanes so that cyclists and owners of folding bikes can travel alongside one another with relative safety, but not all locations provide a safe space for individuals on cycles to travel. It's not only important for bicyclists to recognize when a driver has not seen a traveler on a street but it's also important for drivers to be aware of the people who might be sharing the roads on a bicycle. Just like an automobile owner must be wary of pedestrians, so too must that driver be aware of bicyclists.
